About Dr. Alireza Minagar

Career highlights past and present

Dr. Alireza Minagar is the former professor and chairman of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. Between 2001 and 2020, he led clinical trials and taught medical students, residents, and fellows. In addition, Dr. Alireza Minagar worked with patients and students on a variety of neurological conditions and subjects, including epilepsy, stroke, and related medical issues, such as chronic pain and sleep disturbances.

During his tenure, Dr. Minagar became knowledgeable in molecular genetics and neurodegenerative diseases. Complementing his medical work, Dr. Alireza Minagar is a skilled data analyst and data scientist fluent in SQL, Python, and Java programming.

Dr. Minagar spent eight years studying medicine at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He continued his medical education with a series of neurology and neuroimmunology residencies. Dr. Alireza Minagar studied programming, molecular genetics, and biostatistics in the Master of Science in Bioinformatics program at the University of Maryland.

Outside of his work in medicine and data, Dr. Minagar is an avid reader. He reads classic literature and modern fiction and enjoys painting oil portraits.
